Alison Lim

Guardian

Alison Lim is a mother of three grown-up children, including her 28 year old married daughter, who is a senior journalist and newly married to her husband, a lawyer. Her elder son is 26 years old and works with the Singapore Armed Forces, and her younger son is reading literature in the Nanyang Technological University.
Alison’s motivation and passion lies in being in the community space to promote the building and restoration of families. She is also mentor to several youth leaders, and works with them to bring other youths to a land of great possibilities and potential. Youths never fail to amaze her and it is this that motivates her to give back, and to contribute by being a Guardian with iPGA.
Alongside her community work, Alison is an accomplished Human Resource development practitioner and professional with more than 30 years of experience in adult education and development. She is well-known for her use of experiential and hands-on methods in the development programmes she conducts, which result in learning and change. Her typically culturally-diverse audience and trainees are kept engaged with this dynamic, innovative and facilitative style of training.
Alison specialises in a multitude of human resource programmes including honing leadership and management skills, personality profiling, influence, personal effectiveness, management of interpersonal relationships, assertiveness, facilitating train-the-trainer, presentation and team-building skills.
She has designed and facilitated many successful training programmes in organisations from various sectors leading to the transfer of learning to application, and these training assignments have taken her from Maldives, to South Africa, Japan, Korea, Nepal, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Alison began her career as a social worker, and was also part of the teaching faculty at the Nanyang Technological University, specialising on Organisational Behaviour and Social Psychology. She also lectured at the Singapore Training and Development Association (STADA) for the Professional Diploma in Training and Development Course. She designed ACTA 4 and facilitated ACTA programmes, and is currently focused on facilitating the Leadership Milestone Programmes for the Civil Service College.

As part of her continued social contributions to the community, Alison has served in the management and executive committees of the STADA, Family Resources Training Centre, Gifted Children’s Association, the SIM OD (Organization Development) Interest Group and the STADA Innovative Training Techniques Interest Group.

She is also a volunteer trainer with several voluntary welfare organisations.
Alison graduated with a Masters of Arts in Education and Human Resources from the George Washington University, Bachelors of Arts from the National University of Singapore (major in Social Work) and the SIM Diploma in Training and Development. She is certified in Experiential Adventure Learning, Harrison Assessment, QO2 Profile, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personality Profile, DiSC user, Extended DISC, Life Skills Coach, Lifekeys and ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective Leaders’ Facilitation and has also completed the Masterclass Facilitation by Roffey Park, Lego Serious Play and Thiagi’s Interactive Training Strategies Certification Programmes.
